It's taken traditional Moorish design and given it a contemporary kick - all cool cream cubes with finishing touches like graceful arches, latticed windows and a constellation's worth of brass lanterns. Winding trails wrap around the complex. Spectacular blooms pepper your path and perfume the air. And the whole place is so immaculately maintained, you feel as though the ribbon-cutting ceremony might have happened just the day before. As you'd expect from a hotel of this calibre, the rooms are impeccable. Decked out in fresh creams, look forward to a tranquil oasis that's big on comfort and high on style. Not only will you find all the mod cons, but they all come with a private balcony or terrace - most of which serve up sensational sea views. That's another thing about this place – it gazes out on the crystal waters of the Red Sea and your own private beach is just a flip-flopped stroll away. Of course, the pool scene's not short on the wow factor either. There are two pools and another one for children, with comfy, cushion-plumped loungers spread out on the roomy sun terraces. Attendants are on hand too, offering cold flannels and complimentary fruit juices to keep your temperature down. Or you could always wander barefoot to a cool gazebo and let an expert masseuse work their magic. Pool life aside, we can't talk about this place without paying homage to the food. There are five restaurants to choose from, with flavours including Mediterranean, Moroccan, Lebanese and Mexican. Twizzle spaghetti in the Italian eatery, whose candle-lit courtyard will sweep you off your feet. Tuck into fillet steak in the beach-side grill. Or grab a quick bite to eat at the pool bar. Everywhere you go you'll find little cubby holes and sun-dappled terraces inviting you to rest awhile and enjoy a drink or something to eat. Last but not least, we come to the spa. Now this place is hallowed ground – a parallel universe of treatments and therapies, steam rooms and saunas. If this tranquil pocket doesn't unhunch your shoulders, trust us, nothing will.
