An introduction to Hotel Picafort Park

Cocooned by palm trees and shady umbrella pines, the Picafort Park is made up of nine three-storey guesthouses. They're arranged around a large pool and the layout gives the complex an almost village-like feel.

The pool scene is impressive. A turquoise figure of eight, it's surrounded by sunloungers and parasols. A terracotta-topped pool bar sits to one side – just cross the bridge which spans the pool for drinks and snacks. For more in the way of food, the restaurant offers up big buffets – and regular gala dinners are hosted here, too.

If you fancy a day by the sea, Son Baulo beach is within striking distance. For shops, bars and restaurants, meanwhile, the resort centre of Ca'n Picafort is about a 25-minute walk away along the promenade. If you don't fancy the stroll, hop on a bus instead – there are stops close to the hotel.

As for the bedrooms, the gold curtains and cameo-blue walls give the rooms a bright holiday feel. And the wood panelling around the beds is a particularly nice touch. Balconies come as standard and all rooms are kitted out with satellite TVs, air-conditioning and minibars or fridges.

Rounding things off are the hotel facilities. Take your pick from a list that includes basketball, five-a-side football and tennis.
